PopTop cross section?

For those of you who have disassembled a SMB poptop, what is inside it between the fiberglass shell I can see outside and the thin painted ceiling (composite panel board?) inside? Is there wood or other structure built into the top? Any one have pictures of when they cut open a poptop to install a vent?

I need to replace my original-install 2006 flexible solar panels and am going to likely go with 2 Renogy 150 watt panels. The brackets include self tapping screws. Will these alone hold long term to the fiberglass top shell? Anything to avoid when putting screws through the top?

Thanks for your input.

Brian

Nice photo! I see what looks like wood under the raised ribs of the top. Maybe 3/4" x 4"? Is it plywood strips or solid wood? So if I drive screws through the raised roof ribs I'll hit wood under the fiberglass? That's great news.

86Scotty,

Is that roof section upside down in the photo? So your fingers are in one of the grooves on the roof?

Thanks for the photo.

The photo was rotated 90 degrees on my computer verses my phone... I got it figured out. Perfect photo. Thanks.
