Twogone's bumper is really nice and supplies storage lengthwise IIRC. You can see the lockable doors on the ends. Hopefully Marc can comment on it.

...been doing some SolidWorks modeling....storage is winning over step....

I've got two models going, one with a bump-out for extra storage under the body, above the trailer hitch and the other without the bump-out. The bump out could go deeper easily.....thinking rotopax storage and mounting ARB compressor maybe.

I've also got the holes for backup sensors (need to breadboard up the way to hold these-hoping grommets will work) and I have 2 sets of holes for flush mount LEDs....may only do one set...haven't decided.

....made the hatch hole 18" wide...could go wider......

...any other ideas? things I forgot?

Presently SolidWorks says 46 lbs with hatch 3/16 wall thickness

Looks good. My only comment is make the hatch as big as possible.. I wish my Aluminess hatch was larger, it would make it easier to access stuff, get stuff in and out without having to move other stuff out of the way, etc.

Once you finalize your design, is this something you are only making one of or maybe a couple to sell?

LOL, I tried to spin it around and get a bottom and rear view.

Very nice work.

bottom rear-ish view

made the hatch wider (18" to 24") and the storage pocket deeper
