Yes but only when POR-15 isn't used!

I do have to understand most or many SMB'ers don't live in a four seasons climate but even so bare exposed metal should be treated if only for the longer term benefits.

Does anyone that has removed the spare tire mount and cross-member by popping the rivets happen to still have the assembly sitting around? I'm doing the opposite as most and trying to reinstall my spare under the vehicle. Unfortunately, the up-fitter removed the cross-member to make space for a black water tank that we're no longer using so I have nothing to hang my spare from.

I hung one with heavy ratchet straps and it's still happily there. It has never budged.

Well that seems simple enough. Probably should have thought of that. Haha! I guess you'd even have more ground clearance tucked up against the floor compared to being held against the cross member.
