Rooftop A/C Or.....

I live in NC but travel to Louisiana for work and would like to have A/C by the summer.

Last year I did a window unit in the back window, but now that I have a bed that is in the way, I can't use that option. Plus it was a 5k unit and didn't keep me that cool.

Here are my options,

1. Dometic Penguin II.
2. A window unit above the bed built in this area:

I could cut the doors short, weld everything up solid and put in a A/C window unit. Most units need 12" clearance, and I have 14" to use. So it could work. And stop from having a huge A/C on the roof.

Just wondering if a rooftop A/C will look THAT bad, or not and just go with a rooftop unit.

Dometic Penguin specs:

I went with this one in my CCV pop top van build a few years ago. It's in my build thread somewhere with several pics. Worked great with a Honda 2000 generator.

The only way I think I could live with a window unit is if it had a door and slide and that's much harder to accomplish.

Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t look that bad. I’m gonna go for it.

Worst case I can build a roof rack around it to hide it more if I need to. I’m going to push my solar panels more forward and put it in front of my vent.
