Side Ladder

All.
Any idea how much a side ladder and install costs?
SMB quoted me $650. Seems a little high. I looked around the Internet but didn't find anything.

Thanks.

Re: Side Ladder

aluminess.com sells the ladders for a little over $400 ea. plus shipping. These are the ones SMB uses and the install is pretty easy. They hook to your drip rail on top of the van and you would just have to drill a couple holes in the lower pinch weld to mount the bottom.

About 1/2 down the page.

Lens ladder came out really nice. If you have the means and skills to build your own, that is definitely the way to go. I will be making a pair this Fall for my van. Alluminess makes some great products but they don't come cheep, that's for sure.

Re: Side Ladder

Several other people have also made ladders (mainly welded joints) and posted how they did it. Can't find them now though....searched "ladder" but could not find them???? They were also side mount but were "full" ladders very similar to the Aluminus (sp) design.

Mine cost $11 in tubing and $25-$35 in small oxygen tanks and $7 in spray paint cans and consumed 5-10 hours of my play time. If I had larger gas welding tanks or an arc welder the total cost for materials would have been ~$20. Oh, if you need to buy a pipe bender that would add cost.....still less than $100 and it is always (at least for me and several others) fun to try your skills on a new thing.

Good Luck!
