squeaky rear end
Ever since I converted my van and added a big, heavy rack to the rear I have developed a squeaky rear. I can't tell if it's shocks or springs, or possibly something else rubbing. I don't see any problems, cracks or anything weird. The van drives fine, but the noise drives me crazy. I just hear it at low speeds of course. It is NOT my rack. It squeaks now whether the rack is on or off. Should I try a few shots of white grease/spray lube around the leaf springs, or does someone know of a common place on the Ford vans where this becomes a problem? My van is a 2wd e350 and the rack is not overloaded, less than 500 lbs on a 3 point mount, on a 1000/10,000 receiver.
thanks

Re: squeaky rear end
For years we had squeaks from our 10,600 lb SMB coming from to the rubber body mounts. Spraying them heavily with silicone would solve the problem for awhile but then they would apparently dry out and start squeaking again so I gave up and stopped spraying them. Either the problem finally went away or we just don't hear them anymore.

Re: squeaky rear end
Thanks guys, I'll get out the silicone and go to work. Can someone clarify how many I might be looking for? I know what they look like, I think, but if anyone knows specifically that may save me some time.

Re: squeaky rear end
My van used to squeak at the leaf springs. Some of the pads were worn I think. We added some grease when the extra leafs were added. No more squeaks since, and its been nearly 100,000 miles.
