Sounds like a good reason to get an air compressor and carry an air wrench to me! You only have 32 of these things. Fooling with them with Ford's craptastic emergency lug wrench sounds tedious.

Gotta agree with RPA, something got into the threads, got crushed while tightening, and then bound up while trying to remove. If it was overtorqued, I'd expect to see all the threads damaged.
