Swing Out Rear Windows Ford Van?

I couldn't find a topic on this, but was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to get swing out windows for the E350 van.

I to am looking to install Rear Pop Out Windows as they are helpful in creating air movement , I had them in our other vans and really miss them . The only ones that I have found so far are used one from the salvage yards If you find a source of new windows please let me know .

My PO claims to have gotten the last ever pop out rear window for my van. Don't know how he figured that but it's nice to have despite the non-matching tint.

I'm not sure of the exact date, but Ford stopped installing them in around 1993. I wanted 'em in my '96 van and couldn't find any at a salvage yard so went to Ford parts dept. and ordered them. Had to get the windows, weatherstrip, and latch seperately. Don't remember the price. [They will fit at least thru an '07 as I checked when I got my SMB] You'll also need some screws, but get 'em at a hardware store. They were REALLY expensive from Ford. I thot the windows would be nice, but didn't use 'em much. No good while driving cause of the exhaust coming in and you can't believe the amount of dust that comes in while on a dirt road. Also, never could get a good bug screen that didn't block most of the air when we were in the van. So, for me a waste of time and money.
I guess I'm a slow learner, but I did order the opening side door window on my SMB. It wasn't worth it either. Got in the way of the shades and I ended up removing the latch (that's what was in the way) and made a bracket that holds the window permantly closed.
So, they will fit and are an easy mod, but not worth it for me.

I also added the tilt-out rear windows to my van. Here's a copy of the message I posted on the old Yahoo Sportsmobile Owner's Group:

I finally got around to installing the opening rear windows. For the
longest time, I couldn't decide if I should or not. I'm still not
sure. You can only open the windows when there are no bugs around and
you need some more ventilation. I'm sure the slider side windows
allow more airflow than the open rears do anyway. But, I did it.

The hardest parts were:

- Getting the SMB door panels off
- Getting the solid windows out
- Cleaning up the old window sealant

All the holes are in the door. The door hasn't changed since 92. I
used a windshield removal tool to cut through the window adhesive and
then pushed the window out. Cleaned up most of the window sealant
with a scraper and my hands. Then used 3M adhesive remover to clean
up the rest. The new windows use 9 4mmx.7mm nuts and washers on each
window. Get them before starting the project. Any good auto body
paint shop can sell you the window sealant. Put on a bead of sealant
and place the window in position. Tighten all the nuts. Then you have
to reinstall the Ford plastic window surround and bolt the latch
through the plastic. Then simply reinstall the SMB door panels.

Took about 4 hours from start to finish.

The best part was the cost of the opening windows. From my local Ford
dealer, they were just over $100 each, complete with hinges and
latch. They are available in standard green tint, or darker grey tint.

I just checked on an internet Ford dealer site:

and all the rear windows are still listed in the catalog. The prices are about $80 for the standard tint and about $90 for the dark (privacy) tint.

Thanks for all the info guy's. Just this weekend I wanted to have a touch of fresh air at night, and since opening the doors takes away the pillow headrest I couldn't. When I checked w/ a body shop they were dumbfounded. It seems to me the window assembly would be the same as the side, although the point about interfering with the day/night shade seems valid. Does the new install close tight enough to eliminate the dust problem when driving?

Mine are factory windows, and they seal as well as any of the other windows, probably better than the sliding side windows SMB installed.

Use extreme caution when putting windows in the rear doors. Any moving vehicle with a vertical rear tailgate or door (e.g., van, a station wagon or pickup truck with a camper shell cover) creates negative air pressure behind it. Because of this vacuum, opening the rear window of a camper or station wagon can result in high concentrations of exhaust fumes entering the vehicle.
