Two good mechanics in Bend, OR

Sometime over the summer while the SMB was in storage our AC decided to discharge itself. My first stop when in town is German Master Tech, while they usually work on the expensive Euro jobs a quick look in the employee lots shows that these guys are avid overlanders. The initial diagnosis from another shop was the a/c compressor which is really buried on the E-350. THe big lift at GMT was busy for the week so with much trepidation and their recommendation I was off to the local ford dealer. To say the least I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent service I received at Robberson Ford. Robberson Ford determined that the problem was actually in the AC manifold. That part was replaced and now we are on the road for the fall with very cold AC. I would highly recommend either of these shops. Oh, and stay the hell away from Jimmy's Broadway Automotive in Tucson!

I have also had an excellent experience with them. I burned out a transmission output shaft seal on my '94 while driving (more like plowing) through 3' of snow about 10 miles out of Lapine in the middle of winter. They had it turned around in about a day and a half, and they are open late.

Any good guys to work on our rigs in Portland area? I have a hard time trusting anyone other than myself and I have very limited experience.

Landmark Ford does good work, and actually does diagnostics before swapping parts.

Hmm, i typically never even consider a franchise dealer for mechanical work. Is Robberson price-competitive with independent shops?

I to have had good results with Landmark ford, they even worked on the Starcool airconditing, which everybody else balked at.

Any local mechanics to deal with the 4WD modifications? I considered Quad Van but not sure if they would take the business. They do not deal with any of that equipment SMB uses. I have not had any pressing issues, so no reason to call.
