Re: upgrading to 2008 front body style ??

12v Cummins will fit without the new hood/grill. Intercooler will fit if you use a 6.0 PSD intercooler/radiator/AC stack.

Oh wow! Do you know somebody who has done this swap, or have you? I'd like to talk to somebody who has done it before I start.

I have a 1993 12v with 9000 miles on it, which is mated to an Allison 4 speed. I'm not sure if I can use the Allison, but I'd like to. In fact, I have the whole motorhome still so everything I need for the swap should be in the motorhome.

Wanting to do the same 08+ front clip flip on my 97. When the new style came out I hated it, but have grown to love it over the last couple years. Planning on a black grille with the full height headlights like this:

Yea, the black grill looks the best.

Looks easy, so it should be simple. Take lots of photos!

Have you or anyone done this? Im looking to update to the 2008+ front end on a 2003 with the 7.3 and like the idea of adding an intercooler.

Also anyone have more info in what parts are needed for the front end swap? do you need to change the core support?

Thanks for your Time!

You don't need to do the front clip upgrade to use the 6.0 cooling stack. However, it would give you space for an F-series 6.0 transmission cooler.

I've read of some guys trying it, however I don't know what the final outcome was. The hard part is routing the turbo hoses to to intercooler. Some 7.3L guys have gone with water-to-air intercoolers since they can be mounted over the engine. The 6.0 cooling stack mounts in the same space the 6.8L/7.3L radiator takes up.

Ford lists a different core support for the new hood, but apparently you can keep that and just drill new hole to remount the latch.
