Not to be a drag, but have you checked some of the more detailed ground-up builds here? It's not trivial. You can throw a mat, an extra battery and a camp stove in the back, or you can design built in cabinets along the lines of the pro converters. There's a LOT of room between the two. And chopping windows, etc. I frankly think unless you're very into doing your own work for the sake of doing it (and assuming your time is at all valuable), then buy used. Even if you decide to eventually design and build your own the experience of trying one out first with less risk is the way to go IMHO. You chop up a new van and don't like it you're not gonna be able to sell it and salvage much.
