Looks great Rob! Are you serious about the ride improvement?

dramatic improvement
rig only had 30,000 miles
not enough to wear em out ( the springs )

the old springs were 3 leaf and a big block
do not know the origination of the springs that
came with the rig, Ford or SMB, i have no clue

new springs are 7 leaves and no block
look at the other photos under Deaver that I posted

ya can tell me that a huge top heavy rig like i have
would NOT have had significant improvement
with doubling the leaves and purpose build bilstens

100% improvement
no sway
no porpoising
rolls smoothly over the road

BW,

Nice looking van. Interesting to read about your build-out and saggy-cure. You said no Hellwig (no rear swaybar?) and also no sway problems? I have a similar Deaver rear spring setup on an '02 EB Voyager top. Based on your sideview, the lift appears to be pretty similar. But I have some real sway issues. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a swaybar, and I'm a bit confused.

Any thoughts out there about rear swaybars?

Thanks.

The only real drawback of a rear swaybar is that it limits articulation. If you don't off road a lot it's not that big of a deal.

FWIW, I'm headed to Deaver next Wed to get the rear leaf spring packs rebuilt on my Bronco. Between 5 year old springs, a newly installed Tuffy security trunk in the rear (~70lbs), and some extra weight for the recently added rear sections of my roll cage, the rear end of the Bronco has been sagging. Especially with my with Moab trip coming up next year, it was actually my wife who asked about "my" sagging rear end. YES, she was talking about the Bronco, and not me!

Re: Wilson's Saggy Butt CURED 15 Dec 2009 NOW with Before &After

I bought a 2wd extended contempo top with no steering stabilizer and I could see light in the front rubber bushings. It was all over the road. I don't think previous owner knew any better. I added steering stabilizer which helped a little, then a front hellwig bolt on sway bar which helped a little more. I then added a rear hellwig sway bar and it made a HUGE difference. The van now feels planted on the road and got noticeably quieter. Best thing I did to my van. Note it's 2wd not 4wd like yours. I just went out & checked, I have 3 leaves + overload. I also added rear Airlifts so I can raise and lower to get through a dip in work parking lot without dragging but rear sway bar made biggest difference. Got it from carparts.com (JCWhitney Online only) around this time last year , best price I found and have been ordering from JCW for 30+ years. I would expect you would need longer links, mine mounts under axle. You should be able to see it in some of my gallery pictures although when I try to look at galleries now I get message they don't exist.
