Ya know as I live and breathe as I wrote that line I had an inkling one of our fair sex members would/might/could take it as an exclusion----on a better judgement day I'd have edited it to be more inclusive.

Look at me being all politically correct with the correct verbiage et al---one might make the mistake I'm somewhat evolved.

Next time it'll be "all y'all...........".

I've been taken to task and will NEVER EVER again make this same mistake Bianca----don't tell AnnieO and our other women members of this gaffe.

I hope only to educate those with glass related questions---glad to chime in when its fitting to do so.

I'm going to delete my 6+ years of autoglass installation experience from this thread...

Please don't do that at all-----all input is valuable here, respect is given when anyone adds to the conversation. I don't recall anything you posted that wasn't useful.

Yes of course I know and your humor fully realized. It was doubly funny my worst fears came to be, all because I didn't heed that nagging quiet inner voice.

One thing I've always enjoyed here is the spirit of being helpful, no huge egos getting in the way of providing a solid answer to most any request for aid or assistance. I've learned a lot here so wanting to repay that is just part of being a participant.

I had the windshield replaced on my van just less than a year ago. The glass is great and no leaks! Or will any water that gets in drain off below by the end of the seal, near the hood and not be a concern? And at that rate just be a aesthetic.
Thanks!
My seal was lifting. I figured it wasn't a big deal because it wasn't leaking. About a year later the paint started lifting. I had to get the roof painted.

What year and color is your van?

I ask because circa model year 1997 Ford began using a water-borne primer that created significant adhesion issues with the color coating. It was so hard and glossy paint simply didn't stick well, large sections would peel away.

My own 1997 in a dark metallic blue looked like a spotted beast, the light greenish-grey standing out against the dark blue.

In your case if the windshield had been replaced and the primer step omitted this could have caused rust forming under the windshield molding, erupting onto the visible sections of the roof.

Had that been the case the windshield installation wouldn't have caused larger areas of the color coat to lift off or peel away.
