Got the KTM running this week.....well almost...

Bought this bike in 2002 and it has been a great bike until I let it sit for the last two years. Spent the last three weeks having the thing rebuilt. Finally got a little time on it yesterday and then took it with me to the mountains. Stills needs some work but looking forward to getting back into it....

Been a long time but I believe so. No stickers left on it. Been 10 years or so since I used it. Surprised it still works. Used it for the first few years I had the bike and then it's been on a trailer ever since....

IMHO, the 2002 model year was one of KTM's best.

Those motors have proven to be very reliable.

I have an 02 400EXC that still runs strong and will never be sold.

Mine has been collecting dust too much recently too..........

I agree. I'm pretty sure my 400EXC was an 02 and it was by far the best bike I ever had. Sure it's not as strong as the newer ones but it is balanced and makes plenty of power for woods riding. I would still love to find another one.

Re: Got the KTM running this week.....well almost...

The 400 is a very smooth and fun engine. I opted to keep my 2003 525 and rebuild it over buying a new 500. It is now a 600 ultralight stroker and is smooth like a 400 but deceptively fast.

Rode a friends 15 KTM 250 this weekend and was impressed how far along the 250 four strokes have come.

We need a desert trip....
