I have no idea what the trailer looks like underneath, but things like those lift blocks look like they could be boxed. From the photo, they seem to be C channel steel with the appropriate holes drilled in them. They may be totally adequate, but I don't know if the manufacturer considered the rigors of Baja or Alaska. You might also consider adding gussets or boxing the frame in the area of the suspension mounting points and where the frame meets the tongue. Remember the busted boat trailer in Baja? It's a lot easier to do that stuff now, rather than on the road.

Here are a couple interesting links discussing suspension upgrades, including your Dexter

Nope.....those mods are for spring axles. I have no springs, it’s the torflex torsion axles.

Trailering

We carry a Yamaha Zuma scooter on a Versahaul carrier and trailer a 12’ Carolina Skiff for exploring the waterways.

Still pulling my Micro-lite trailer around - probably with about 15k miles on it now. Always with a motorcycle inside.

Nice. How much does the trailer weigh? Micro-lite brand?

Thanks.

Been thinking about an enc!osed trailer instead of my Kendon that I like a lot. The Kendon
tows like it isn't there and does not impact mpg.

Does the Micro-lite impact mpg?

IMO anything towed affect mpg's. 2000 pounds is 2000 pounds.
Headwinds probably affect mpg's more though.

Mind you I have a thirsty heavy aerodynamic brick of a V-10 E350.
So 10-12 mpg's empty. 8-10 towing this 2000 lb trailer. And towing 5000 lbs net me 7-9 mpg's. At least this has been my experiences and I'm one of the slower vehicles on the highways, although on grades I drop it to 3rd and hold 3500 rpms which is basically the torque peak.
My guess is a 5.4 V-8 gets better fuel mileage and is only slower on the bigger grades.

Love my van, hate the mileage.
