Re: Towing Travel Trailer!

I noticed that the break away cable has two wires coming from back end. One of the wires is cut off but the other which is black is there and connected. Where are they suppose to connect too. Thanks

Wires are blue in the diagram- they are the same color in all applications I've seen (eg. one to ground one to breakaway control box doesn't matter which)

Re: Towing Travel Trailer!

Just be careful around the Playas area, there is the one big hill there just before the border - it is steeper than anything you will ever find in the States. The rest of the trip should not be too bad.

An older Trailer Life Guide for Towing says 6600# maximum for your van/engine combo.

Your van conversion would probably lower that even more.

Is that a verified dry weight on a scale? They have a way of gaining after they leave the factory with add ons.

Hell, he's in Baja - they would tow it down there with a '72 Pinto Wagon. GO FOR IT!

There is a blue wire coming from a junction box from the TT that is cut, so my guess is that is the wire that goes to the break away. The other wire that is connected goes to the battery and is black. I wire get on that today. Thanks

You said it, I see some crazy sh--! The thing is the police leave the junk vehicles alone cause they can't extort any money from a person driving junk! They go after the expensive vehicles. I do see them pulling over Semi-trunks all the time. Not pulling over tourists in Travel trailers.
The funny thing is i owned a Ford Pinto wagon back in the day.

Yellow Wire for Tow!

I just connected the plug wire for tow to check and make sure all the lights work.
The left side does NOT work!
So I started from the pigtail and worked my way to the junction box mounted on the frame and the Yellow Wire is NOT connected to anything.
All the other wires have another wire of the same color connected to them.
I followed all the wires where they go up into an area where I can not get to and there is NO yellow wire coming out of there.
Does the yellow wire connect to one of the other wires.
It doesn't look like there was ever a yellow wire coming from anywhere.
Only yellow wire from 7 pin plug to the junction box and NOT connected to anything.
Any ideas on what that yellow wire should connect to?
Thanks...

Re: Towing Travel Trailer!

What is under that yellowish plug/cap in the front frame?

If they just cut wires when there was a problem, you should for shorts etc before hooking up. I'm starting to hope you got a deal!
