Trailer

I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions on a good trailer for hauling bikes and maybe a couple other things.

Re: Trailer

Enclosed or open/ flatbed? How many bikes (I'm assuming motorcycles?) What kind of other things? How often do you plan on towing it? Will you be taking it offroad? What is your budget? Those answers should get us started!

Re: Trailer

I am looking for an open trailer that can hold two bikes. (Actual bikes you have to pedal) It will be taken off-road and be used very often.

Re: Trailer

What kind of bikes??? All of these are expensive. I'm sure you can have something custom done if you don't need all the camping stuff and if you mean dirt bikes size and loading become an issue.

But if you go through this section there is a guy in Colorado IIRC that does a nice job. I'll post the link if I find it.

Re: Trailer

Yeah, I'd think most of those companies can outfit the top to hold Mtn bikes and what not. Just depends on what you want to spend. I have a SMB trailer that came with bars to hold bikes.

Re: Trailer

I'd hate to buy a single purpose trailer, when for a little more investment, you can have a multifunction trailer.

Some other sources. Some more off road capable than others:

http://outlandertrailers.us/OT/Sherpa_II.html
http://www.schuttindustries.com/Consumer.aspx
http://www.rugertrailers.com/

And this may be the one Daveb is thinking about. Their website appears out of date, so I'm not sure what that means.

Re: Trailer

These little guys from tractor supply might fit the bill for you and they are a hell of a lot nicer than those from harbor freight tools: http://m.tractorsupply.com/en/store/car ... _vc=-10005 With a simple spring over lift and a bigger tire/wheel combo they should go anywhere you need offroad. They also sell a 4x6 version without the ramp gate.

Re: Trailer

I'm really enjoying my Xventure by Schutt Ind. But then I wanted something to be multi purpose. The camping fun is obvious, but I've also used it to haul lots of stuff. I just filled it with 2000 lbs of gravel, hauled 4x8 sheets of plywood (trailer gate down), and I have ramps to transport a motorcycle or atv.

The tires and wheels match my rig so I don't have to carry a spare, but I have one to thrown in the trailer if need be. I'm about to rotate all eight tires now, but haven't decided on what to do with the TPS system. Bikes hang off the back or I can put them in the trailer.

20 gallon water tank below the trailer
On demand propane water heater
20lb propane tank on front
storage locker up front has Goal Zero Yeti 400, fits 2 5 gallon gas cans, and a D/C frig cooler. They even have a spot to mount an air compressor.
