Re: complete 2009 quigley 4x4 conversion on a palet ready to go

You know I'm looking at the winch and noticed it is mounted backwards... just as an FYI to anyone running a winch this big or thinking about buying the winch & bumper. My understanding is that if you put the full 16K on there the drum can rip out the wall of the winch housing itself- which is what the second set of feet (second flat side with bolts?) are for, 'cept they're pointed backwards in this install.

Two questions for anybody....

1. Does anyone know the van or van owner? recognize it?

2. Has anyone had a winch rip loose? (ouch)

Re: complete 2009 quigley 4x4 conversion on a palet ready to go

Wasn't being critical about the build. Maybe you had a reason for the winch position, maybe mine is backwards, and just maybe you set the thing in there to show it for sale. Speaking for me, the only reason I wanted to see pictures was I fear a large loss like that myself. If I was traveling and saw something like that along the roadway, not only would I rubberneck, I would pull over to see what happened. And it wouldn’t be to buy parts...I don't need them. I think any SMB owner would react different than the casual passerby. You seem to think everybody is beating up on you here but before I would commit to buy, I'd be lookin for a little more reassurance. Sorry but I think your original post came across a bit skeptical. You’re new on this site which makes a huge difference. As far as I knew from your first post, you could be a junkyard dealer trying to make a fast buck. If I was in your shoes, I would have shown some pictures of the van before the incident giving everyone an idea of who you really are. If you are a parts seller (not a SMB owner) simply state it. Blair hit it right off the bat with his post. Anyway good luck; I feel for any Sportsmobile owner that looses a van.
