I thought I would pimp my mother-in-law's van for her, since the forum is a little slow this time of year. I purchased the empty cargo van in 1989, had a shop in Portland put on the top, walls, windows and floors, and I did the rest. It turned out pretty well if I do say so. We sold it to my in-laws in 1995 and they used it around southern Oregon for camping and hunting for several years.
Unfortunately it has sat outside since then and needs some refurbishing.
1988 E150 w/EFI 302, 4-spd auto trans, and 3.31 rear end (approx)
Air conditioning and cruise control but nothing else.
About 100,000 miles and runs well
Upgraded front and rear springs but honestly it's still a little limp
24" high bubble top with windows
RB50 type rear seat and extension
Cabinets are 1/2" plywood with Formica overlay and maple trim
7 gallon Propane tank
Small Dometic 2-way fridge
12,000 BTU Suburban heater
One house battery under hood
6-gallon fresh water tank and sink
Infinite capacity grey water tank lol
What's wrong? I did a quick walk-around and here's what I could see:
The wood and vinyl floor is shot. Don't know if the steel is good under it.
The hightop trim vinyl strip is shot. Didn't see any signs of leaks inside, but who knows?
The propane system would need to be inspected and tested for sure, just because of the age.
Last I heard she was
asking $1,800. This could be a very low budget project for an industrious soul!
If you are interested, PM me and I'll get you in contact with my brother-in-law in Medford.
