Re: Value of 2000 7.3L Ford Quigly 4x4?

Help me understand your real goal. You say you are wondering if now is the time to consider an upgrade in your SMB. That decision being based on what you are able to sell your current one for does to seem logical. Are you saying that should you obtain less than expected you would not buy a new SMB?

So question I have is would you consider getting a new SMB if you were able to obtain between $35K-$45K selling yours.

Just curious what do you think a new SMB the way you want it will cost? It may be a great opportunity to step into something new. OR you may find the one you own is still the best for your needs. Maybe just do some changing around of things to freshen it up for you.

Re: Value of 2000 7.3L Ford Quigly 4x4?

The other way to determine price is to look at what other people are asking for similar 4x4s in the same model year range. Check out the for sale by owner and on line Craigslist sections of the forum to get some comparables. They may not match your rig exactly but it should give you the range.

Once you have done the research ask yourself if you are comfortable getting that amount or less for your van.

Another good source of comp prices is the Sportsmobile Pre-Owned Pages.

Very nice looking rig. I'm curious what floor plan it is? It will be called an EB plus a number like 30, 50, etc. if you don't remember. It should be in your paperwork somewhere, or someone else might know by looking. Posting a pic of the floorplan from SMB's site will let everyone make sense of the pictures better.

Re: Value of 2000 7.3L Ford Quigly 4x4?

Thanks for all the input. We have a lot to think about in the next few days. The floor plan was custom: On the driver's side front to back it's the shower w/porta-potti, the refrigerator with microwave above and Star Cool above that, slide out pantry, hanging closet, then fold down couch/bed with TV. On the passenger side, it's sink with water heater and storage under, 2 burner flat top electric stove with storage under as well as propane furnace, balance of counter top with storage under, and again the couch/bed with 20 gallon potable water tank under it. (BTW the bed is 72" by 48")
I made a listing of the inclusions but couldn't figure out how to attach it so if anyone is interested, drop me an e-mail and I'll forward that list to you.
We are going to take some time to decide which direction we go next in a class B RV. This was probably my last year elk hunting as it really is a young man's sport, especially when hunting alone. But the last 13 years in my SMB "Hunt Camp" have been absolutely outstanding (and the hunting was very successful also.) So is it a tamed down SMB? Could I live without 4x4? Does the Sprinter have enough guts to cruise the west without wheezing at altitudes after years of enjoying the 7.3 Powerstroke performance?
I feel the pressure from you folks to nail down an "I could live with that" price and thanks to your suggestions, I've got some serious research to do.
Be back with my best guestimate of price shortly.
Thanks!

After sleeping on it, we believe a fair price is $43,500. If you are interested e-mail me and I'll send you a list of the inclusions. Just finished copying our logbook into the computer also. We are in Ft Myers, Florida so factor in your cost to pick it up.
And thanks to all for your thoughts and advice!

Re: 2000 7.3L Ford Quigly 4x4 for sale

Very nice setup. That seems like a very fair price based on all the factors you have listed. I would hold out for someone ready to pay that as that is a lot of van for that price compared to a newer one and it has the 7.3. Good luck with the sale.

That's not exactly true anymore. I mean according to that I can get $110,000 for my van and it would be a steal! Anyone want to buy my van for $110,000? I'll come down to $105K this week only!

AFIK, SMB only lists asking prices, and never updates with the actual sales price.
