New Owner!

I took ownership of this rig last night and want to thank Hip for the opportunity. Great 2nd owner who took a lot of pride in ownership and helped me make an informed purchasing decision. I'm looking forward to extending the life of this rig and will be basing said adventures out of Northern Colorado.

Updates coming as the adventure unfolds…

Thanks Hip!

Stoked for you Peakbone you got one sweet rig right there… You're gonna have to stop by and show it off at the weekly Opt Overland meet ups on Wednesday nights here in FOCO. Drool factor will be high, Congrats Man!!!

Can you guys offer some feedback on the 5.4L with a 6"/35s? Enough grunt for mountain passes?
Which gears are you running? MPG?

I've got a 5.4 running 32's and about a 4 in lift at about 9800lbs gvw. I re-geared to 411's which brought power back to about stock which is adequate, not great. I'd love a V10, but that won't happen any time soon.............A/T

The short answer is no......but I suppose it depends a bit on gearing.......

FWIW, I've got a 4WD 5.4L, 285/70-17's (33's?), and 3.73 gearing.......

It regularly shifts out of O/D on mountain passes/climbs but gets about 13 mpg.....

and depending on your speed starting an incline your speed at the top may be less than you hoped for.......if you can get up to about 70-75 mph at the beginning.......

A 5-star tune made a huge difference on my 02 5.4. At around $500 it's about the best money I think you can spend on grunt for the 5.4.
