373 gear set FREE

I have a set of 373 gears including carrier (low miles) from a Dana 44. Free, just come and get em in Wa. I will also throw in stock front headlights and corner markers from a 2001.

Edited to remove the Dana 60 gears.

There's some good beta on 4.10s paired with a 5.4L in this thread: http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/for...3-a-12241.html

For me, 410's are a good option. The mighty 5.4L is a bit small to be hauling nearly 9000 lbs around, and on mountain passes it's way underpowered. With the original 373's and 32 inch tires, long uphill grades required 2nd gear crawls. With 410's, I stand a chance of pulling the same grade in high gear for a while, but normally have to unlock the torque converter and far less often, I have to resort to 2nd gear. Also, the spedo was off by a lot, but with the new gears, it's accurate to within one or two MPH, so I'd say it's back pretty close to stock hill climbing ability. As for mileage, I average about 12 but I don't know what it was before the change since the speedo was so far off.

I’m getting about 9.5-10 with the same setup as you boy wonder...do you have a tuner? I can’t figure out why I’m getting such crappy gas mileage. I don’t have a heavy foot.

How is everyone measuring their MPG's? Probably worth confirming everyone's measurement methods are apples-to-apples...

If anyone went to a taller tire than stock and **didn't either re-gear, or recalibrate the speedo to compensate** --- then as arctictraveler has mentioned, your speedo and odometer are definitely off...

A taller tire will **decrease** the apparent MPG / indicated MPH. (As in, it will introduce an inaccuracy as such. The speed you see / miles indicated will be significantly lower than actual, and therefore any calculated MPG will be lower than actual as well.)

98 E250 2WD 5.4 3.73 LS rear. On our cross country trips (3 so far of 8-9,000 miles each) we routinely got a combined MPG of 14.5-15.2 mpg, with a highway high of around 18 at times. Tracked with an app. Stock tire size 225-16.

Interestingly, even though my speedo is now very accurate, my odometer
is not. On a measured 5 mile course, it will read one tenth of a mile less than I actually traveled.
