Dana 60, 4.10, Limited Slip - Gone ... completely

A local (to me) Forum member has just bought himself a limited slip differential and 4.10 gears for the price of a $50 donation to the Forum. Spacers ended up with a Forum member on the east coast and the axle housing and brakes are destined for a local street / track '68 Cougar.

My turn to put a full float under my van, so now have my semi-float available. Just removed from my 2005 E-350 with roughly 60,000 miles. The outboard bearings need replacing. New rotors and pads also would be needed as I swapped them out with the junk yard full float I just put in. Will also need shock mounts welded on. I'm going to hang on to the wheel spacers, unless someone really wants them.

Just posted on Craigslist for $350, but for you fine folks how about FREE! if you make a $50 donation to the Forum. If you make a $100 donation, I'll throw in the wheel spacers. Hey, it's a good cause!

I'm not going to ship this thing, but you can pick up in SF Bay area (east bay) or PM me and I'll try to work something out.

Nice price!

BTW, those wheels you have are the same ones I had, and mine were badly cracked at the lug nut holes. I would recommend you inspect all of them closely if you have the same style on the van. Quigley commented when they looked at mine that they are not adequate to support the weight of an SMB.

I just looked up the specs and they are rated at 3100 lbs each. It would be nice to have another 500 or so lbs on top of that number. I'll be sure to check them out. I'd really like to get a set of Stockton Wheels steel wheels, but I just searched on them to post a picture of what I want and found that they have gone out of business. What a bummer. Another forum member has a set that I've always liked.

Anyway, somebody want my axel?

Phil,

Those look like the brakes off the ''new'' axle.

Glad you got it finished, hope you are happy with the results.

Now I know where 2 spare axles are located. Good luck selling yours, mine is still here. I was thinking about posting it at 4WheelParts.

Mike,

You're right, those are the brakes off of the "new" axel. Like you, I swapped the rotors and calipers between the existing Dana 60 and the "new" Dana 70.

I only have about 2 miles on the "new" axel, but seemed fine so far.

Phil,
What axle did you find to fit without the spacers? i.e. as what did it come out of?

Thanks,

Paul

Re: Dana 60, 4.10 gearing, Limited Slip, with wheel spacers

I found a Dana 70 full float out of a 2006 E-350 cut away. The guy at Santa Clara Wreckers said it was from a Safeway refrigerated delivery van. It already had 4.10 gears and I had them add a new Powr-Lok limited slip. I toyed with putting a Detroit Locker in, but was afraid I wouldn't like the on-road manners of it.

Did SC wreckeds do the install? They have rebuilt several axles for me and do great work and are pretty reasonable. I purchased my Quigley conversion from them as well. Lenne is a little hard to warm up to but OK.

Re: Dana 60, 4.10 gearing, Limited Slip, with wheel spacers

SCW put the limited slip in, but I had a local shop do the actual axle swap. I was going to do it myself, but recently wrenched my back and opted out. I think it was money well spent!

I did like working with SCW. Seemed like good, honest, knowledgable people.

FYI, I also got my D70 from SCTW and am happy with the service and the axle. They seem quite knowledgeable. They set my axle up with the correct ABS sensor for my year, etc.
