Poptop looks salvageable. $500?!

No affiliation.

This could be a inexpensive way to add a pop-top . SWB
I think the top would work on a later model van with little modification.
The Third generation Econoline (1975–1991) measures 79.9*in width.
The Fourth generation measures 79.9*in - 79.3 width (slight taper at rear)

Still a work in progress but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. This one looks to be in a little better shape, and has a flat back end which would make the process easier. If the canvas is still usable, which it appears it may be, someone could transplant this thing without spending too much money.

If it needs a new canvas then you are looking at around $1500 just to replace that plus the $500 purchase price which starts to put you in the range of what a couple used tops that would require no modification have sold for recently.

Hope it's ok that I just jump in on this. I have a 91 SMB with a beat up canvas. Was wondering where you found a canvas or did you have one made? Quite a project, good work. thanks Lance

HI Lance,

I'm making the replacement top for BenJJ. At first I thought we could do it for around $800.00 but it wouldn't be a quality top and wouldn't last. In the end with out shipping it's $1400.00 to have a new top made thru me, we use weather max LT fabric (which is the same stuff CCV uses in there non arctic top), strata glass 16g plastic for windows, and top quality mess for the screens and have several colors to choose from... We can get one going for you right after we finish up BenJJ Canvas. If you want to go in this direction send me a PM.

Cheers,
Mark
