2006 ford extended cargo van e-350 1-ton, V-8,6.0L turbo diesel, 112xxx miles, cruise control, brake control for trailer,cd,a/c. Runs very well. I changed the alternator, the "O" rings, accessory belt, and all the ball joints last fall. It has a Clean title. In the Kelly Blue Book its price is around $12,000. I am selling mine because I got another smaller car instead. Price is $9,500 o.b.o. If you are interested text or call

Price is reasonable. Not great, not horrible. I'd say try for $18K if the condition is good.
Thanks Herb! That's kind of what I was thinking from all of my poking around. Not great, not horrible, but in the end, I went ahead and took the plunge! I'm feeling pretty much equal parts sick and euphoric! Now for the truly fun part--the interior conversion and adventuring!

Invest in a plane ticket. If it's crap it's worth it to get a taxi, buy a plane ticket back, etc. Any mechanic will do a few hours inspection for you, and I'd just pick one instead of letting the owner take it.

Re: Fair Price?

Not a good strategy IMO. Even without the loan payments it can be a lot to keep up with just the maintenance. Cost a lot to have fun in them too. Buy something you can afford to pay cash for and still have enough money to go camp with. Most of these 2 wheel drive vans with lifts can go just as far as the 4wd ones and they don't have near the maintenance or the crappy ride that comes with sitting on top of an axle driving down the road. In my experience 80% of the time 4X4 will only get you 20ft farther and a foot deeper stuck. Can always tow an ATV behind the van as well and can get you a winch in case you get stuck.

CarFax is legit.

What should I be on the look out for?

Any good independent mechanic shop around the area that I can use for pre-purchase inspection?

Tim

It sold a couple days ago.

Yeah, except I can back out after getting there.

But seriously, you literally cannot make it up the hill I live on without 4x4 if it snows. I've seen everything from line trucks to fwd hatches fail to go up the hill in winter. I've failed and had to put it in 4wd more times than I can count (I'm stubborn that way)

Re: Fair Price?

I've also seen my share of 2wd vehicles tearing up trails as they spin tires creating nice divots on the trails as they are temporarily stuck.
