Fair Price?
For a while now, I've been looking for a new-ish 4x4 that I can slowly convert to a camper. The problem has been that I need financing, and most places I've talked to won't finance a vehicle that is worth more than KBB (because of the 4x4 conversion). I also can't buy a 2wd van and convert to 4x4 because, again, financing. I've found a 2006 E350 4x4 (Quadvan conversion) with about 158,000 miles on it. It seems to drive fine, with the usual wear and tear of a van that age. It's at a dealership, and I think I can get it for around $20K (with financing available). I was hoping to get some input on whether that's a fair price, or should I keep looking?
Thanks!

Re: Fair Price?
So a base (non-camper conversion) van, 4x4, V-10?
Price is reasonable. Not great, not horrible. I'd say try for $18K if the condition is good.

Re: Fair Price?
There is a 07 E350 4x4 60k in Ohio that can be purchased for significantly less than what you have been looking at.
I know that it's listed on Manheim also......if you have any dealer connections that may help you buy it significantly less.

Re: Fair Price?
Wheelie, that's one heck of a good looking van. V8, but if you're building yourself and keeping it light, I wouldn't pass that up for the price.

I already own a 03 SMB. I thought others would love to score that thing.
You should see what it's listed for on Manhiem.

Re: Fair Price?
So it's a 5.4 I'm guessing, and looks like the only interior goodie it has is rear air. No power door locks, windows or cruise control that I see. I don't know that I would convert a van without those basic amenities. YMMV.

I would say that when you factor in Quigley vs QuadVan, the motor, and the base trim, the cheaper one might not be the better deal.

Re: Fair Price?
I am very interested in this rig.
I am in San Diego, I called the seller and inquired basic information about the rig. I have never bought a vehicle outside of local area.
CarFax is legit.
What should I be on the look out for?
Any good independent mechanic shop around the area that I can use for pre-purchase inspection?
