Where are you in CA? Cardiff Campervan builds pretty much what you want, I've seen one of his vans in person, it was well done. If he can't squeeze you in I might be able to help out.

Maybe this will work for your family. We are about to list our 97 Dodge Sportsmobile poptop with RB-12 interior. The dinnet seats have seat belts. And there is the loft bed and the dinnet bed. We are in Tucson but also spend time in San Diego. We are going to list the van on Craigslist today. Yesterday we took about 50 pictures I can send these if your intereseted. We'll be asking $18,500. If you are interested call 858-752-3198 or email sailcyrene@yahoo.com

We have basically the same layout as sailcyrene in our 98 Ford. Love it in general. BUT I really don’t think it will work well with kids. Dinette belts are only lap belts, and riding sideways for anything more than just a few minutes is no fun. My son hates riding back there. We took out our sink cabinet and installed a third captain’s chair there for him. Worked out well, only downside is no window on the driver’s side for him to see out.

Thanks BrianW, I actually read the same thing on the Cardiff site about the sidefacing seats and looked into it a bit more. Kids safety will be first priority so I agree that that layout without the two buckets probably won't work.

Family of 4 looking for used Sportsmobile Camper
If you don’t want the “50” layout with the bench in the back, an SMB or any campervan with second-row seats will be challenging to find. Most class B vans are designed for two people. If you don’t mind doing a little modifications, then sometimes you can find a van with a layout that will allow you to remove some things and add in seats. That’s what we did. Removed the sink and cabinet, which we would rarely have used anyway.
Some Roadtrek vans have second row seats, but they don’t really sleep 4 people that well. The seats combine with the front row seats somehow to create single beds. I’ve never seen one with the beds done like this in real life, just in photos. I think it’s the 190 Versatile model.

Not sure what you mean?
Here's the Roadtrek 190 Versatile flooplan. And yes, I have seen several SMBs with the second-row seats, but they are pretty rare. And often the forego sleeping downstairs to make room for them, especially on an RB van.

I have a 2006 Ford E250 Sportsmobile EB50 for sale. I bought a newer one and my wife said I can't have 2. It sleeps 4. Let me know if you would like to know more.
