I'm Cheap Top Hunt

I am looking for any sightings in wrecking yards, back yards, or business lots for either a Hi Top (bubble top) or penthouse dilapidated van sighting. They are rarer than BiG Foot (Yeti) sightings but as Mulder and Scully (X-Files) state the truth is out there, I know they are out there! I ask this for many reasons such as I like doing my own builds, I am partial to tweeking ideas, but mainly because I am cheap like J.Paul Getty only cheaper! It worked for him so why not! Please send info on such sightings at pick apart ect.. The area I am requesting is the Southern California and Arizona areas. Thanks in advance

You might check with this guy in La Mirada:

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...545070702.html

He has or had 2 hightops for extended vans, 1 is handicap access rear door, the other one in the background of the picture, the rear end isn't shown.

You can save your searches on both Craigslist and eBay to notify you if something comes up.

It took me a long time and alot of heartache to find a used penthouse. My wife and I think it was completely worth it though.

You may check with Colorado Camper Vans to see if they have anything used in stock. Maybe 2 or 3 used tops "popped up" there last year.

We don't have any used fix tops in the shop from installs of a pop tops at CCV. But we can ship you our DIY 24" fixed top. Which is the same top I have been selling on the Forum and is now a product sold thru CCV.

You have to figure your out your own shipping from 80537 and production time for this top is 4 weeks. shipping options are thru fastenal, uship or partnership for your best prices.

24" EB Ford top is $2600.00
24" RB Ford top is $2400.00

You can send me a PM if you'd like more info

Cheers
Mark

I saw these. I would consider a 3- 4 foot rear slide out if I went this route because of the high doors. I would be concerned about leaks due to the off camber flexing dur to poor rigidity on top.

We do both pop tops and now fixed tops as a DIY kit you just need to give Amber or Derek a call 970.699.6000, but we do not do the 24" high top as a pop top, far to big of a top to pop.

In regards to that SMB penthouse in Texas it a descent buy. Just realize you will be looking at $1400.00 plus in a replacement canvas and none of the SMB facilities will be very helpful in getting you a new canvas, since they didn't do the install for you. I also hear it's tough to get even if they did...

I did a Canvas for BenJJ and I had over $800 in materials thru Keystone Bros here in Denver plus another $600.00 in labor in his Canvas.

I bought enough to do more than one top but will keep checking Junk yards and local CL for any style SMB penthouse so I can then sell as a complete refurbished top as making replacement canvas is not a money maker in any way...
