I put in a K&N not too long ago. Why did you decide to go back to paper?

I've used both K&N and paper on other vehicles. And I've moved away from K&N. It seems the K&N flows more, but the paper ones filter better (especially when new and clean) and are much easier to maintain.

Opinions expressed here are personal and do not reflect the views of the management.

My buddy works for a major magazine and did some lab testing on the K&N and all the rest. The results were not good. I can't release the results, the magazine or who my buddy is.. but if you want to drive in dusty off road conditions, don't use the K&N!!!

K&N

This is probably why all off road racing vehicles use them instead of the paper filters ?

Racing vehicles use them because more airflow can yield more power, and they don't mind rebuilding the engine several times a year.

K & M

I have several close friends that run in different Score and Core classes who do not rebuild after every race in fact will get 5 plus race's in before any major tear downs are made to the engine's and drive trains , I raced open expert for 15 years in AMA District 37 and found that this type of filtration prevented my customary weekly tear down of all of the different Motorcycle's that I owned and competed on . NASA is now using this type of technology at their JPL facility in PAsadena , California because of the ability to control particulate matter down to less than 1 Micron . I do not advocate the use of these filter's and still am running the Ford Factory Filtration until all warranty's are null and void .

I know some swear by K&N and some swear at them.

When I used to travel by motorcycle, I tried a K&N for awhile. After barely 50K miles I had to rebuild. With the stock paper filters, I have 164K and 112K on two different bikes and they don't need a rebuild.

Maybe I have different expectations. If I had to rebuild in less than 10 years/250K miles on this van I would be upset. The stock paper filter does a good job, lasts a long time (40K and counting) and requires little maintainance - just change it when the filter minder shows some restriction. So, I have no reason to try anything other than the stock filter. But, it wouldn't bother me if you wanted to use a K&N.
