The 96 is a one ton with barn doors. Price is fair. The 94 is a 3/4 ton with an uncommon slider. Price is out of line.

Of course this very low mile 4x4 Dodge has more rust showing, but still great for a 1989. Price is $17,000. Been floating through owners for years. https://portland.craigslist.org/nco/rvs/5464336830.html

While that high-top Dodge 4WD rig is most definitely badass....()....I'm not sure that it would be considered "garageable."

(Unless the original poster's friend has a garage that's built to house giraffes )

(New format sucks in one regard! Keeps deleting my sign in and wiping out my reply posts)

Anyway.....the Spearfish dodge price just dropped yesterday. That makes it a good deal, since the price now leaves lots on room for spending any money needed for repairs or updates.

So I'm pushing my gal pal to take a run at that one.

Spearfish one is gone already.

She's still looking.

Re: comment of
"I went through those eBay photos. There is nothing there anywhere near scary. ....I'm not sure what gbail expects for a van built 18 years ago...."

Rusty strap hangers holding the propane tank up underneath the rig? Not what I'd recommend to my 67 year old female friend traveling solo in remote areas in the west.

Damn, you could almost eat off the undercarriage of that van.

Bare metal Angle Iron braces for the steps with a light coating of surface rust is nothing to be concerned with.

Ok, gang. You've humbled me and helped me realize I'm just being too cautious in my evaluation of these vans.

Seriously, it's very helpful to get others insights based on their experiences.

Thank you all for chiming in.

Now if I can just get my friend to pull the trigger. She's actually even started to look at garageable VW vans!

Aaaarrrrggh
