Hey Pntyrmvr, I have a 2007 Chevy Express 1500 AWD

Looking for one that was made by Sport or another manufacture.
I've seen people use vw westfalia pop tops & a few sports that came from ford's.

Looking for an electric raise penthouse. I've heard they can hold a little more weight on the roof then a manually raise roof.

Van roof length is 148'' - Van roof width 64''

Looking for something around 120'' with or around 78'' of laying down legroom & 78'' - 80'' of headroom when penthouse is opened.

These are all hopeful numbers, so open to what ever comes across my way. Really looking to use the Penthouse to add extra head room / space when camping with the family & have space to store some of our surfboards. Don't want a high roof due to we go to some surfing / camping spots that have low clearance when getting to them.

Where are you located? How far are you willing to travel? Is your van short wheelbase or long wheelbase?

1992+ Ford tops are the most common, and these are hard to find used. A used Chevy top is rarer, and a used powered Chevy top.....well......time will tell.

As far as forums go, this is a rather small community....although there has been a rash of used Ford tops recently from folks replacing the SMB top with a CCV top, which are all powered, and have much wider beds, insulated canvas options, etc.....says the guy with an older used manual SMB top

Sorry to be so, um, realistic, but you're looking for a needle in a haystack. I would consider buying new. I don't know that I've ever seen an electric Chevy SMB top on anything but maybe a new, full build.

Westy tops are simple to raise and install but getting really hard to find.

Ford won't fit without extensive mods and electric ones are really rare.

Do you like to do fiberglass work? Metal fab?

I don't at all blame you for posting up a want ad but just trying to keep it real, this is not going to be easy to find. If you want this to come to fruition in the next few years I'd just buy new, and I'm not sure who does new tops on Chevys nowadays.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck!

Well, well, well, as soon as I open my big mouth!

You will NEVER find a better deal than this! Buy it quickly. You don't need to see it first. I don't think you're going to get closer for the price. Yank the top and sell off the rest.

That’s actually nice looking van, with second row captains chairs. High miles, but at $1700 it’s crazy cheap!
