Love that green.

Auto trader has some good v10s on it right now, mainly on the eastern side of the country.

I've always felt like diesels are the way to go in these vans. But V10's seem to have their own cult following. Why? I mean, I know, power...but don't they basically shoot gas out the tailpipe to propel themselves? What makes them so popular?

Steelhead Jones, it's all the power of the diesel (well most) without any of the issues. I'm averaging around 11mpg consistently mixed driving and would much rather pay for gas than repairs. 2005+ also has the same 5 speed tranny the diesels got. And really, who feels like they love their fuel mileage wether they have a v8 or a v10? Either way these vans are gonna cost you at the pump.

Thanks for the perspective Josh.

I have a rust-free, low-mile '99 RB 7.3 cargo with barn doors. I searched a long time for this configuration. (Speaking of, this whole van craze of late is really cramping the market!!)

Anyway, my chassis is pretty haggard; a lot worse than it looked in the CL pics. It will take much TLC, much time and much $$$ to rehabilitate it.

Sometimes I think about just unloading it and starting over with a better base. That's when these V10 posts start singing their siren song...

But then I think about mating a 5R110 to my 7.3 and swapping on a new chassis.

And then, just to make sure my wheels are good and turning, I call MG. And a whole new world of possibilities opens up.

Sigh. I'm Robert and I have a van problem...

Ha ha welcome to the club. I wouldn't get to wrapped around the v10 craze, I'm sure what you have revamped would be a sweet rig.

Edit: Calling MG when you don't have money to do anything can be a little depressing ha ha.

I couldn't agree more. Plus, the 7.3's are getting really hard to find and the people selling them seem to know it. I wouldn't turn one down, but you can get a great deal on a V10 still.

When I bought my van, I used the V10 as a negotiating tool. Gas was like $4/gallon at the time and no one was looking to buy a used van that got 10mpg. Luckily the Ford dealer had it on their lot for like 3 months and was ready to let it go. Green is my favorite color too, so I lucked out.

Eric, if the RB would fit your needs, I would say go for it! But I know you need the EB...
