we used a sawsall...



...till it was time to for exact fit then used a cutoff wheel. but ya, just like mentioned. holes in each corner and saw to each hole till you've ruined your van, errr...I mean modified.

Tape the roof and use a jigsaw with a metal blade. You'll cry at how thin the roof metal is.

I am such a pack rat I kept the part of the roof I cut out. Just because.

Yep, bi-metal jigsaw blades with the highest TPI number you can find. A hole drill to start some where, but the corners can be radiused with the jigsaw pretty easily.

Also,while the hole is wide open and before installing new roof /canvas, use this opportunity to apply the roof protection tape / clear bra or whatever along the gutters and other roof areas where the bulb seal will contact. This will help prevent the paint rub through that leads to rust!
