THAT is why it doesn't fit in the Ford! All of the other penthouse beds I've seen have the plywood base sitting directly on the angle frame. You effectively have nearly an 8" thick bed with those rails attached.

Our sprinter bed came with the "lift kit" or rails under the flat bottom.

Bed photo

Bad picture, but I think you can see the rails screwed directly into the ugly "whiteboard" on the bottom of the bed.

Apparently the Sprinter PH bed doesn't fit the Ford.
....Still for sale. Heading to Pasadena for a week or so in case anyone in So Cal is interested in it.

Try listing on San Diego, Orange County, and LA craigslists. Lots of ford SMB vans in the area, maybe someone needs one?
Goognlck with sale.
"Ford sportsmobile 4x4 camper van pop top bed" should hit most keyword title searches.

Hi if this is still available I'll take it, if you will be near San Diego any time soon.

This one won't fit a Ford SMB without some rework/upholstery work.....

Just to update this very old thread, I ended up keeping the bed. Have one more trip to make from TX to AZ and then I'll be listing the Sprinter in the For Sale section in about another month.
