Does it need a new top?

The top is completely functional. It doesn't leak and I've been in some impressive downpoors with decent wind too. It's just not the prettiest. I was thinking about coating it with something like Linex, but never got around to it. I was just throwing out comparisons to those who might be gun shy about the fact that it's a DIY Sportsmobile.

The top can be coated with no problems... it's the canvas that needs to be in good shape. From the pictures you have in your album, the canvas looks fine. As long as there isn't wear holes in the canvas, windows, or screens, it opens and closes correctly and the wood isn't bad due to top bolt leaks, resurfacing the top would be the easy part. I would replace the top bolts before re-doing the top itself.

True. The forward bolts have been replaced and resealed. I did those when I mounted the solar panels. Thanks for the input. Noone must be in the market for vans right now, because I don't have any real leads in selling it.

Everybody is buying ammo right now... maybe if you throw in a thousand rounds of 9mm

Really though I also would think you'd be getting some hits. 140K on a 7.3 isn't considered very high engine mileage.

Good luck on your sale.

Great idea! I am a gunsmith and I reload to no end. Free muzzle brake and install or 500 rounds of custom .223 ammo to anyone paying my asking price!

Yeah, don't sell your van short on the top- the fact that it doesn't leak is what matters.

The only suggestion I have is to go ahead and finish gutting the interior, then cover those steel support structures that the PH bed goes on and repost. Bare steel and trimmed PH. It might be the roughness of the rough that is turning people off, but if I was looking for a project I'd be seriously interested in your van.. well that and if you made it .357 or .32 ACP
