Re: 2008 E-350 5.4L V8 4x4 "camperized" SMB poptop

Thanks, Herb.

I agree about agreements being agreements.

I've kept a few I wished I hadn't made, but I think overall I have been rewarded for sticking to my word even when I realized after making the deal that it was bad for me.

In any case, I've had three offers already. One was fishing, the other was quite reasonble but a little lower than I'll go this early in the selling process and the third was last night's offer. And that's without really promoting the rig other than telling a few friends and putting it up here.

When you look at how sparse the pickings are for Sportsmobiles and their ilk, it's pretty clear that there's a very interested market. I bought the 2008 (the one I'm selling) after looking for a SMB for a year and not finding what I wanted. After another year of looking, I ran across the 2005 I just bought, which is closer to what I wanted to buy in the first place. If I find something even closer to whatever my ideal is, I'll buy that and sell the 2005. I mean, what the heck, right? In the meantime, the 2008 was a great interim rig and frankly I would have been perfectly happy with it for much longer. After camping in the 2005 with the RB50 interior last weekend, I realized how little difference the official SMB-built interior makes to my actual use. I mean, it's nice and all, but so is the 2008. And the 2008 is a better offroad rig, since it has lockers on both axles. A new owner will be very happy with camping in it this summer for sure.

Thanks, Buck.

I'm just trying to squeeze out the time to take the pics I need to take and finish building the website for it. At that point, I'll advertise it more widely than just here. And if history is any indicator, once that happens it will find a buyer.

Due to extensive pressure from potential buyers I have hastily shot some more pics. I'll do better later, but for now, please see this link

Thank you all for your interest.

Thanks for the bump, gbail.

I so want to sell it to you that I'd like to offer these helpful strategies:
1) raise carport roof
2) lower carport floor
3) simply dig trenches for the tires, rather than lowering the entire floor.
4) deflate the tires on the van before driving it into the carport.
5) move
6) move into the van

On a more serious note, FWIW the van's dimensions are:
19'10" long (call it 20')
7'10" tall (call it 8')
8' wide. Width was hard to measure and it may be 8" or so skinnier if the mirrors are folded.

Thanks for the bump, gbail.

I put up some more pictures today showing the bumper storage compartments (i.e. where the winches would go if they were installed), the engine compartment and fluid levels &c.

Bump for a most wholesome rig, and a heck of a nice guy.
