Where is the van located? Salt Lake City? Southern Utah?

What color is it?

Some pictures might answer some questions.

It seems like a reasonable price. Add 15K for 4x4 and you have a nearly new SMB for under $70K.

It is in SLC, UT. Color is a deep red metallic. It is like new condition. Have great pics, but cannot figure out how to post them here. if interested text/call me and will send photos. 4WD can be added by Advanced Four-wheel Drive Systems of Utah for $9,500, which includes high/low range, locking hubs, etc. They claim they are the best after market 4WD. Not sure about their claim, but I think they are at least first or second to SMB. Check pics at

Too bad about the color but that is a nice looking interior. You can't do a 4wd conversion for $9500 but this is still a great buy. I already have one but if I didn't!!!!

Your are very incorrect. Anyone can do an excellent 4WD on Ford vans for $9,500 if they do it through Advanced Four-Wheel Drive Systems of Utah. They have been converting Ford vans for Ski resorts around here for years. We have 7 ski resorts within about 30 miles of Salt Lake City, not to mention the several others around the state and the search and rescue vans. I specifically asked them and went in person to the plant in SLC. Don't take my word for it; check out the company at:

Huh, who knew? What's the $9,500 package? All I can find is a pdf with "upgrades".

ok....so why didn't you do it? Last time I checked Advanced 4wd they were cheaper than SMB but nobody could tell me what I would get for a few $$$$ less than Quadvan.

I went in about December and they were back-logged 6 weeks and then I found that it handles pretty well in the snow with the tires and traction control that I decided to put it off. I thought about doing just for the re-sale value.

The $9,500 conversion apparently comes with locking hubs, hi-lo range, shift on the fly at any speed, additional shocks, a Ford F-550 parts to make it more heavy duty (I'm not an expert on this).

You want to know what you get for 9500.00? If it's done like my van was done
in 1999 you'll get a headache. I ordered mine with a Dana 60 front end,I got a
Dana 44. When I asked them about that they said I didn't need a Dana 60. They
had done hundreds with the Dana 44 and it was good enough. The workmanship was
garbage, the welds looked like cottage cheese. In the span of one year I had parts
falling off and wearing out. All the driving was hiway driving, hardly ever had it in
4x4. When I did have it in 4x4 low crawling around it would pop out of 4x4. Finally
after it left me stranded in the gorge in Oregon I'd had enough. Took the van to
Salem Kroger and had them replace the front end with a "FORD" front end, not a
front end that was cobbled together in someones backyard somewhere in Utah.
If you have a part that fails, like I did. It wasn't something you could get locally.
You had to get it from Advanced and you got it when they felt like sending it.
This is what happened to me, I'm sure there are people there that are happy with
what they've got at Advanced and I'm happy for them. All I know is what I got
was something I didn't trust. Maybe they have cleaned up ther act, but I wouldn't
let them work on a tricycle.
