I've got a 5.4, (fully built out, 4x4 and 33's) and prior to re gearing from 373's to 410's, even without towing, I spent a lot of time down shifting in the mountains. Once I put in the lower gears, mountain performance got better, but I still end up down shifting on the grades. I can only assume it would be more frequent if towing. I didn't see the rear ratio mentioned, but if it's 373's and your towing, you can expect to spend a lot of time in the slow lane holding up traffic on the grades. Keeping the rev's up high really helps too, but that still requires down shifting, and I suspect that high rev's in lower gears will burn nearly as much fuel as pulling a higher gear with a V10, with less wear and tear.
