Re: For Sale: 2005 EB50 4x4 6.0 diesel

Thanks all. It was primarily a ski trip. Started in Southern Colorado and skied my way to Haines, AK where I camped for a couple weeks, skiing in the back country. Took the ferry from Haines to Bellingham, stopped in Anacortes (wonderful area) then drove back to Frisco. Never saw it rain so hard at 22 degrees, F. south of Prince George, BC. Everything covered in ice. Roads a mess. It was -25F north of Smithers, but the coldest I felt was along the water on the Lynn Canal. It felt like living in a glass of ice water. For those of you thinking about driving around the north country in the winter, check out the road web cams on each province's web site for conditions. Very helpful. Take EXTRA fuel. And lots of diesel conditioner. I ran Rotella T6 with RevX additive and had no cold start issues. Bring a really long good quality extension cord when/if you can plug in at night.

When it got really cold I wouldn't pop the top and sleep on the fold out bed instead, heater keeping everything just fine. Cooking outside was a drag at times so I found myself microwaving stuff alot inside. Always had a thermos of coffee around.

Alaska in the winter is a magical place. It's pretty hard to describe. Pictures don't even begin to capture all that's going on. Sensory over load. I highly recommend it. Just be prepared.
