SPM van for sale
I bought this 1997 Dodge RAM camper van (B3500,5.2L V8) in 1999 from Sportsmobile in Fresno. It had been owned by an elderly woman who had driven it less than10,000 miles. Now I myself am an elderly woman (79) and need a disabled license plate. The van is too big for me to handle now.
In the past I have greatly enjoyed this vehicle. Took it once to Wisconsin and back, numerous times to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and to the Bay area. Just last summer I drove it from Santa Barbara to Seattle and back for the third time. In all the years I have driven it, the van broke down on the road only once when the water pump needed to be replaced.
I have maintained the van meticulously and all the service and repair reports are available. The owner of Airport Motors here in Goleta inspected it in October 2017 and found hardly any problems (see inspection report). Airport Motors thought it could benefit from a Differential Pinion seal replacement. Mr. Jeffrey Hurnblad, the owner, welcomes contact from anyone with questions about the vehicle (805 681 7297) The van passed the smog test on March 16, 2018. That report is good for 90 days.
I have driven this camper about 100,000 miles. The motor has a great sound and the van zooms along on freeways @ 65-70 miles an hour. Cruise control is working properly. That said, in mountainous terrain like the Siskiyou Pass (4,129 feet) I have to shift back and let other cars pass. Transmission has been checked carefully during recent years and is fine.
The van shows no significant external damage. A prickly branch of a bougainvillea bush has lightly scratched the back of the passenger side and the sideboard on the same side has been missing for a long time. I just have not bothered to replace it (see pictures). There are still a few late nineties model Sportsmobile vans for sale. They have maintained their value and prices tend to exceed $15,000. This one is priced to sell at $ 7,500.
