Re: Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

Truck is still available, slowly adding a few miles. May take it to Anza Borrego in January.
Reasonable offers considered.

Re: Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

I am genuinely curious about why I haven't received serious interest in my truck. I see comparable rigs with 4x as many miles listed for a 50% premium over mine, and the only real difference is the 7.3 vs. the V-10 in mine. For the 15k price difference you could put over 3000 gallons of fuel and a crate motor in this one if there were a problem, but there won't be, because the V-10 is a very solid, understressed motor. Does anybody have some constructive ideas for me. I know the stripes are a turnoff for some, and I don't have all the gnarly aluminess bits, but this is a very clean, low mile, 4x4 Sportsmobile. I am open to honest offers, but I'm not desperate, and I really don't think my price is out of line.

Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

It's priced right for what it has. Feature wise its a good deal. Needs a little work aesthetically.

Since you asked:

1) remove stripes (hope that's vinyl); if its painted on there (skip this step) it wouldn't be worth painting over it or repainting the whole van
2) remove fender flares and running boards (if the old flares leaves uneven wear marks you could add black Bushwhacker fender flares
3) swap wheels for factory polished alloy or anything more aggressive looking

Day and night difference IMHO. Then ask for $35,000. If someone on here is good with Photoshop they could mock it up before you went through the motion.

The stripes, wheels and running board dates the van.

My background: used to flip cars for almost a decade.

You could also try eBay. Don't expect to sell it on there but think of it as a lead generator and another advertising medium.

If you have people tell you your van is fine the way it is and not to change anything then you should ask that person to buy it from you.

Good luck.

Re: Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

It looks like a 2wd, and a pretty tame one at that. I see molded steps and I think of a much older generation of B-class campers. It doesn't say 4x4 anywhere in the ad. If I was shopping I never would have looked.

That and everything Ocsmb said. Not that I think it's worth changing the van, you just need to appeal to the right audience: people who are looking for a 4x4 that isn't a lifted, bumpered beast (or people who are looking for a deal and are going to beast it out themselves). There are both types, but I'm not sure they are seeing your ad.

Here is something for the 2nd type, to help them dream:

Just some more positive encouragement here. I think it's a great van at a great price. It's the middle of winter and not as many people are shopping. I'm pretty sure that's why mine isn't getting more attention as well. I would just keep it listed. You are obviously a good communicator, and it's a really nice van. Good luck!

Re: Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

Thanks everyone for the input, great looking 'shop jage!
Unfortunately, the stripes are painted on, and so shall remain.
Can't believe I didn't have "4x4" in the original post, but I did have "Quigley" in the title...
I am not the kind of guy who can throw away tires with 10k left on them.
I actually think that the way the truck rides and handles on road is more important, I haven't run into clearance or traction issues on the trips we've done, and I know that a set of 33's or 35's would make it feel a lot sloppier on road, where I spend most of my time. "If it ain't broke...fix it til it is?"
If it's really like adding a bathroom to your house, where I get more back then I put in, I suppose I should look into it. I may strip the hubcaps off and run steelies, which I like the look of, and should show off the front hubs. I took the running boards off of my last SMB, but it was a low clearance Dodge, and it cleaned it up without negatively impacting ingress/egress. Maybe I'll trim these back to look more like bushwackers and add a couple hoop steps...
Again, thanks for the input and the encouragement.

Re: Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

Like Jage was suggesting searchable keywords are very important. I would use '4x4' and/or '4wd' in the title.

You could always swap the tires onto more aggressive looking wheels or simply sell the combo and get different ones.

Since the stripes are painted, leave that be, but definitely take off the molded running boards and swap wheels. If those are hubcaps, toss them and powder coat/paint the steels. That will make a dramatic difference.

Nice shop job JAge. If it looked like that at $35k it would've sold the 1st week.

So what you guys are saying is, potential SMB owners have no imagination and only respond to shiney stimuli.

I agree just needs to look a little beefier. I was looking at your ad for a long time but just looked to tame for my taste. Take running boards off at the very least. Maybe throw a big 4x4 decal on.

Re: Sportsmobile E350 EB V-10 Quigley Low Miles

You can get the Sportsmobile 4x4 decal from he SMB site, http://www.sportsmobilestore.com/sports ... decal-set/

Remember that beauty is in the eye of he beholder. I think the van looks great as is, but what do I know mine is an 89 2wd.

Make sure you have it posted on Craigslist with a tag list at the bottom to help people find it. CL allows you to post to multiple cities and states. You may want to post in Sacramento, LA, Seattle, Denver, Phoenix and points between. Also repost the add frequently so that it stays near the top.
