Swivel Base for Passenger Side Ford with After Market Seat

I have an unused (ordered the wrong one) one of item number 113531 from this page:

http://www.discountvantruck.com/rvvanse ... tbases.htm

Ideally I'd like to trade it for the OEM seat base version, but since that's probably not realistic, I'd be happy with a local sale. I live on the SF peninsula and work in Santa Clara.

I paid $247 shipped with tax. Hoping to get $210. In addition to $ off, this would also eliminate the lead time on ordering one, which turned out to be a couple of weeks.

Marty passed (he was looking for the base for the OEM Ford seat).

So it's still available.

Re: Swivel Base for Passenger Side Ford with After Market Se

Dude guess what... I did the same thing.

Ordered the Aftermarket Base because I thought that since my seat did not come with a facorty swivel that I would need the aftermarket base... OOPS.

Now I see that it is based on the type of Seat you have, not the type of base you have ... live and learn.

They are letting me return mine ... minus a 30% re-stocking fee. OUCH!

I was going to post that I would sell mine for 10% less than you would sell yours but I figured that would just be rude, so I will take the 30% re-stocking fee hit and you can keep the monopoly on incorrectly ordered swivel bases for sale.

Add me to the list of people who ended up with da wrong swivelin seat base. I ordered the right one according to their website. It aint even close. I think if I put on my "Hal the Van" thinking cap, break out the sawsall, angle grinder and drill I can make it work.

So would the original posters unit work for you? (edit starting here) No Jamie it won't fit I think your gnarvan is pre 96..sorry...
I think their web site is a bit confusing but they seem good on the phone. I have purchased a few sets of seats from them and they have always been good to deal with.

Re: Swivel Base for Passenger Side Ford with After Market Se

I ordered the '92-95 ford swivel seat base. The website claims the base has the stock ford floor bolt pattern. Dont believe it. The good part is the base that comes with it is so large I can cut it to size and redrill the holes in the proper place. The top of the base is to narrow for the stock Ford seat but it should be easy to come up with an adapter plate.

Re: Swivel Base for Passenger Side Ford with After Market Se

Sounds like they sent you the wrong one. A narrow top plate is for aftermarket seats.

I have been on the search for an old school Factory Ford Swivel base. This week I finally scored a pair of really nice ones during the semi anual half price day. I had a set of them in my old 1977 Chevy I forget (maybe Bostrom) who made them but they make big rig seats. They made all the captains seats and swivel seat bases for Ford, GM and Dodge back when you could order them factory installed.(from the late 70's until the late 80's or so when they stopped offering them) The seats were very comfortable and the bases were really well made and completely different than any of the aftermarket one then or now. While all the bases were essentially the same the Ford ones had a centering lock which made them the best ones. So I am going to make/modify what ever you call it one to fit the passenger side of my van. I may do the drivers side someday but its a power seat and it has a very different base than a manual seat does so that one wont be easy.

Good luck with your project.
Hey I thought of you yesterday afternoon when a saw a nice FJ40 red not white on the side of the freeway with the hood up.
Not the broke down part that sounded bad just the nice FJ part...
