The 5 speed is better, but the 4 speed is very reliable and not terrible. The V10 is a great motor. It is found in all kinds of RVs and other vehicles. I think it came out in 97, so a 2000 isn't a first year or anything. Best part is, a replacement is like $3k installed. Can't even bulletproof a 6.0 or do injectors on a 7.3 for that money. My "forever" van will be a v10 most likely.

Not to get off subject but do you already know a reliable shop that would replace a V10 for $3k? I have a 97 with 223k miles and although it runs great I've been curious of a good shop locally that can replace the engine when it needs to be done down the line.

There’s a shop in San Juan Capistrano that does rebuilds and replacements. I can’t think of the name of it. You can find decent used engines for $1-2k and install should be something like $1500-2500.

Here, but this one. Better be quick about it though.

7.3, 4x4 EB50 with extra captains chair.

OK, I let the bug pass for the summer and now we are back on the search. I am looking in the $50K range (of course less would be better and more for a great rig is doable). Some things that have become a must:

- interior heater as we will use the van for kids ski and dance comps in the winter
- forward facing rear seat
- I'm open to looking at any engine at this point as long as it has been loved well

I really want a silver or tan van, but that isn't a must. The closer to Colorado the better.

This is more but it’s silver and a 7.3 and a CA van.

I’ve been looking at that one. Seems to be priced higher than others I’ve watched over the last year. What are your thoughts on the price?

Price might be a bit high, but not a ton. Most interesting thing to me is the lack of a tall cabinet in the back on the drivers side. If you want a 7.3 and a RB50 layout, they arent making any more of them. I would think that one is pretty dang clean too.

Garage
Pretty clean and the only thing I would change is the stock up pipes to a bellow type and run the crap out of it
