Re: Wanted motorcycle 450cc- 650cc

I have a KTM LC4 640 2001 with a extra set of super moto wheels for $4000. I replaced the vacuum carb with a slide and woke it up. Pm if interested.

I really want a 530

The WR250R is simple, cheap, and gets the job done while still being light enough for it. I can carry it on the back of my SMB.
The new WR250R? I want one.
My Buddy has 2 Yamaha Serows XT225's..dual sport, street legal (plates), electric and kick start. They've been extremely fun all around.
We bought them for $2500.00 each. I know they are on the light side compared to 250's and 400's, but we bought them because they carry well in the back of the vans with the hitch carrier; no trailer and street legal.
We have explored some really neat places with those dual sports and the vans. The bikes are really useful in finding nice camp spots quickly once you get into an area with the van.

Really light, around 250-300lbs pounds maybe.. But now we're looking for the ultimate lightest street legal dual sport, a 300 or 400, electric and kick start, be carried securely, locked down on the back hitch; most likely custom made hitch points. The KLR400 maybe but it's heavier with liquid cooling. KTM maybe has one. There is also the Suzuki DRZs.. Can't decide.. Still looking too.

Find yourself a KLR 650. Japanese reliability, cheap like Borscht, huge aftermarket. Anytime a company builds the same product for close to 3 decades, you know its a winner.

Re: Wanted motorcycle 450cc- 650cc "Bought One"

After 2 weeks of searching I found a 2004 KLR650,

Might be a little heavier than i was planning at first, but one of the nice things about the Chevy Express 2500 ext. is the long wheel base, I dont have the over hang the Ford have so 400lbs should be fine.

Anyone driving around with one of these on the back of their van??

I found alot of great bikes out there but most were on the east coast. this one is super close by only 400miles away.

When you said you wanted cheap I didn't think you meant that cheap!

Actually a KLR should be very reliable and very versatile. My buddy carries his XR650R on the back of his van but it's probably 80 lb lighter. I would think you want the heavy-duty carrier with lots of tie downs.

Nice. Let us know how it works out. I think Kaw's and Suzuki were the same bikes, like the KLR and DRZs.. Lot's of Parts available.
How will you be carrying the new bike?

That reminds me, Husky's are nice but parts are harder to find. It's down to KTM for me. This 450 EXC is the one, light, electric start, maybe kick start I hope too; and street legal. I gotta have light so I can one man wheel, lift the bike up either with a ramp or mini winch.
