Re: Wanted Quigley 4x4 with 7.3 diesel low mileage
For me the only issue with buying used and we all know it is turning back the odometer, those older fords are pretty easy to do in a few minutes, carfax doesn't tell you everything and then there is the age of the van and general wear. If you run the numbers to put a 4x4 on it and fix anything else, your time and effort unless you live next to the shop it almost cheaper to buy new (I got a 15% off sticker fully loaded) unless your going all out with a monster van. I didn't want t 6.0 diesel since they are know to have issues. V10 is a gas pig, the 5.4 will do what i need and get the same milage as my old Blazer. I have trips planned to CA for this summer to visit family so time for me time is running out.
The pop top, i really have to think about it - i know there are huge advantages, yes summer heat - i grew up in phx AZ so i know heat. I spent 10 years in Maine so i know winter too and yes standing up is a big plus too since I'm 6' and the wife is 5'8". Were going to hit the NC beachs over christmas holidays for 2 weeks, i would think after that we'll know if the penthouse is a go or no go. I'm use to tent camping so the van is going to be a big change.
thanks for the feed back, and all the other post of information, if i do a pop up i will surely post my experience.
