Call Kenny at aluminess. He might know someone unloading one or cut you a deal on a new one.

Re: Wanted used 2003 Econoline aluminess front bumper

Thanks for the tip. I may hold off on calling him since my willpower against buying a new piece will be very low if he does not have a lead on a used bumper. So will these knock a deer down at 65 mph? I hit a deer recently with a 09 E350 and the paper thin oem bumper folded in like cardboard which caused enough damage to total the van.

Re: Wanted used 2003 Econoline aluminess front bumper

I just received my front bumper from Kenny a week ago and I have to say it is one heavy duty well made bumper, the deer doesn't have a chance. I know when i was living in Maine going down the road praying I moose wouldn't come running out I wish i had the comfort that this bumper would have brought. Its a lot of money, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and hope the wife doesn't find out.

But its all for the safety of her and the kids right? She should be thanking you for thinking of her.

I don't think an Aluminess would be undamaged by a deer at 65.

For that you need a Buckstop.

I've always fantasized about plowing down Bambi with my aluminess bumper. Actually I think a deer would destroy the bumper at highway speeds. It is aluminum after all.

Re: Wanted used 2003 Econoline aluminess front bumper

There are distinct advantages to having something more along the lines of an elastic collision, than an inelastic collision. Would you rather sacrifice an Aluminess bumper or potentially suffer frame and front end damage? All hypothetical, but a hitting a deer at 60mph with a completely rigid bumper will transfer a LOT of energy directly to the frame of your vehicle. Not that an Aluminess is flimsy by any means. A collision at that speed is going to be bad in any circumstance. Just pray it's not a moose.
