Well here in the San Joaquin Valley of California we're not supposed to violate the idle law either but some are exempt such as ambulance companies...or they are doing like I do all day and saying FO. Oh yeah, rigs coming out of Mexico are also exempt but the poor Ca. truck drivers must comply. My 550 shuts off after 15 min. Nice to have a vehicle in the middle of the road shut down at night...all the emergency lights, spot lights and headlights shut down. It shows how stupid our law makers are cause I can set the transfer case in neutral then drop it in gear and it will run all day OR I can ramp up the PTO and run it 24-7 at high idle and add more particulates to the wonderful polluted bay area drift that come to settle in our valley. But actually with C.A.R.B. the air is better than the mid 60’s. I just can't have a fire at home while the some of the coast folks can burn all day. Go figure.
Sorry to “pollute” your thread Claude. Rant over.
It's the reason I stated I'd be a little worried about an ambulance...most of them around here sit in 100+ temps or cold temps at idle for hours at a time. Hours add up.
