Might check out Rhino Rack. They're aluminum as well.

JFlo,

I see you got your Van Compass ladder installed. How are you liking it?

Fitz,

Absolutely love it and definitely worth the wait. I understand you were an early-adopter/guinea pig. Fit and finish are great, attachment was easy and solid, and no wind noise or decrease in mpg. With this new roof platform I have tons more storage and a dance floor on top of the rig. As you probably know already, all the stuff from VC has been top notch so far. Can't wait to see what else they come up with.

JFlo, I'm considering a Rhino rack myself. What size did you go with and how long have you had it? Understand our vans are different so the size will likely be different for me but just curious.

I went with two 60 x 54 Pioneer Elevation platforms. Link here:

You also might want to check out the Front Runner platform:

Seems like racks come in two flavors. Basket style like Aluminess at one end of the spectrum to the Yakima Megawarrior at the cheap end. With the explosion of overlanding the low profile rack without side rails is all the rage. I sold my Yak system and went this route with the K9 and am pretty happy with it.

Yep Rhino, Front Runner, and Ez Awn K9 are the ones ive been looking at. I like the low profile tucked to the top idea.
