WTB....

Hey guys! I have been on a search for a van for quite a while and am running into dead ends. What are your best search options? I am willing to go anywhere in the U.S to find the right van.

I am looking for a 2006 or newer EB 250-350 that is mostly empty. I plan on doing my own build.

Also, what have you guys heard about the heavy duty Express vans with the diesel motor? That is something I am willing to look at as well.

I would appreciate any help you guys have, if not...no biggy. Thanks!

Re: WTB....

Cargo vans, there should be a ton and a half out there of all flavors. eg:

2006 Ford E350 Cargo Raised Roof Van - $11000 (BDH Auto Sales Colorado Springs)
2006 Ford Econoline Cargo E-350 Super Duty Extended - $7900 (longmont co)
2006 Ford E350 Wagon-V8 Full-size-van, Vn (stk# W3148) - $8998 - (Denver Colorado)
2006 For E350 Cargo Van, Vn (stk# W2875) - $7798 - (Denver Colorado)

Just from the first page of what is local to me via craigslist. There are so many auto sites out there, not to mention eBay, I'm not sure how you're not finding any.

Re: WTB....

We own a 1 ton Express van with the Duramax. I would encourage you to look at those, too. I have been extremely impressed specifically with the Duramax engine. I think its relative quietness makes it ideal for a van if you're leaning towards diesel and want to do long trips.

My sense is they might be a bit more difficult to find and also a bit more expensive than a similar vintage Ford Powerstroke cargo van ('06+), speaking strictly of stock vans. A quick but by no means exhaustive search bore this out somewhat. You might try to find one already converted to 4x4 as those options are limited on the GMs, especially with Quigley bowing out of the lifted, solid front axle market on them.

Re: WTB....

I am also looking for about the same thing, although not a diesel. I test drove a 2006 E350 and wasn't impressed with the brakes compared to the new E250 I drove. I'm now only looking at 2008 and up to get the upgraded brakes and steering.

I have heard only good things about the Duramax. There are some used ones out there. The transmission may have changed recently, the newer vans have 5-speed or 6-speed torque-shift units.

Why would they be different?

Re: WTB....

Great responses guys! Thank you. I am really interested in hearing more about the Duramax units. But they are so hard to find!
