Here's the vehicle I drove during the war. It was a lot of fun driving over stuff with it. I'd like to have it now to romp around in the desert. Except it wasn't at all comfortable and very muggy in the heat.
We had one of those in tonopah, nevada at the air force test range. You could run over a four hole plywood outhouse at 60 mph and only hear a faint thump. Great fun to drive!

Hi Vegasrandall! Welcome to the Forum.
EG&G was a client of mine for several years so I've seen the M-706 vehicles at the Nevada Test Site. It made me want to join the security forces there so I could drive around in an APC again. Do you still work at the Tonopah Test Range?

Although the quality of this picture is bad, here is the American version of a similar vehicle in an anti-aircraft gun emplacement at Osan Air Base in South Korea. I took this picture in January, 1975. In the back of the half-track is quad-50 cal anti-aircraft guns. About 20 of these vehicles ringed the base at the time. They were manned by ROK (Republic of Korea) Army gunners.
